After having been reminded of the movies again in a conversation several weeks back, I managed to find both "The Gods Must Be Crazy" and its sequel on videotape. The second one arrived in the mail today.

I took care of the things I needed to do (unpacking the mattress for my new bed, and incidentally, yes, I've been sleeping on the couch since my fire, so the bed was a welcome addition to the new place — I also ate some dinner, swept the floor, and walked with Ivan the cat down to the garbage chute to throw out the stuff that was starting to get a little stinky), and, when I was done, grabbed a glass of wine and watched my new movie.

The scene with the mean little badger who chases the man for miles and miles through the desert, only to be carried when he's too worn out to run anymore, is still without a doubt the funniest scene to me in any movie I know. I don't know exactly why it is, but I laugh myself to tears every time I see it.

Anyway, it's only 9:40, and I'm dead tired (just like the poor mean little badger), so at the risk of being laughed at by any of my younger and spryer friends, I'm going to jump in the warm shower (we had a sudden cold front today which dropped the temperature to a cool 55 degrees for probably the first time in 6 months), and then I'll crawl into my new bed and fall asleep, knowing that I don't have to wake up for anything tomorrow.

And remember, if he bites you, he'll never let go.
