la vita non mala
It was the perfect day to stay home: cold and dreary outside, no meetings at work, a little bit of a headache from the wine I drank last night, and a fundamental need to treat myself a little.

After work was done, I spent some quality time today, just me and my website, getting a little closer to my idea of making this site completely template, style sheet, and config file driven, so that I can make the site engine available to anyone who wants it. I'm not sure how much I should clean up the code before then (everyone has to have a little pride, right?) Either way, it was the first time I'd done any Perl work in several months, and it's always nice to get back to it.

(Incidentally, if you're wondering, I've got all of it but the templates going. One more night, one of these days, should do it.)

Tomorrow is Friday, the end of a long week, and the day I'm going out with my two favorite girl friends for some good Chinese food, I think (not to mention much beer, according to one of them, who's apparently had a much longer week than I have).

Plans for the weekend?
  • The aforementioned dinner plans, of course. . . .
  • Grocery shopping for: frozen pizza, tater tots, onions, potatoes, milk, bread, and if I get the chance some dumplings and shumai

  • Shopping for the bar table which is my (early) Christmas present from my parents. They gave me a check when I was in town on Thanksgiving, and I figure each day earlier I get it is one less day of eating at the coffee table. One of my friends already offered her assistance in making the final purchase and transportation of the thing back home (what kind of world is it where a girl has the big truck to move the guy's furniture? Don't get me wrong — no complaints. I just find it humorous).
  • Christmas shopping for the family. I can't seem to get into the spirit of it this year, but I don't have much of a choice in it — Dec 25 will be here one way or another.
  • Some quiet time, reading a book or something. I've discovered that if I don't plan for it, it often doesn't happen.
  • Lastly, some pfeffernuss cookies. I remember making a gingerbread house with my mother when I was 3 years old that included the little spicy German cookies on it, and I've spent the entirety of my life since then wondering what they were. Now I know, and I'm going to find some.
