It sure is rainy here.

But that's okay, because tonight I discovered the joy that is a crudite. Specifically, in this case, it was a warm mini baguette bread sliced open and filled with French butter, brie cheese, and sliced ham, at a little place called Café Crêpe, which is sort of close to where I'll be moving. Oh my goodness. I wanted to just lie down on the floor and cry it was so good. If that weren't good enough, I let them talk me into a crepe with Grand Marnier and sugar crystals. At that point I didn't want to ever leave.

But, like I said, it was cold and soggy tonight, and I wanted to get home.

At the hotel room, I switched the TV onto Canada's version of the comedy network, which has been entertaining. The comics themselves are pretty good, but the really good stuff is the commercials in between.

Exhibit A: Tim Horton's is running a lunch special that's a combo of beef stew in a bread bowl, a cup of coffee, and a donut.

Exhibit B: A Campbell's Chunky soup commercial, which boldly asked the question, "When's the last time you knocked up a pastry? Campbell's — because some things are better uses of your time than knocking up dinner." I sort of stared at the TV, and wanted to say, "I don't think that means what you think it does. . . ."

Heck, if that was the case, that whole pie thing would have been a lot more risky.

In more serious goings on, today was my first day at the client site at my new job. Altogether it was long and chaotic, and not particularly enjoyable, but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, especially considering I don't have a cube yet, nor a phone, nor a boss (he's on vacation), nor a specific duty except to catch up on a lot of project documentation reading really quickly, so things are bound to get better.

The best part of the day, though, was when I got my special Vancouver cellphone, so now I can call people here without it being long distance and stuff. Not to mention, it eases the pain of not having an office phone a little bit.
