Adventure
You are standing in the foyer of a large building, which is nearly deserted. It's dark outside and raining.

> EXIT BUILDING

You open the door and walk outside. You are cold and your head is getting wet.

> WEAR HAT

? I'm sorry. I don't know what that is.

> WEAR TOBOGGAN

? I'm sorry. I don't know what that is.

> WEAR TOQUE

You put the fuzzy toque on your head. You are no longer cold.

> GO BUS

The bus is not here.

> WAIT BUS

You wait, and eventually the #19 Stanley Park bus pulls up to the bus stop.

> GO BUS

You step up on the bus. The bus driver gives you an expectant look.

> SHOW TICKET

? I'm sorry. I don't know what that is.

> SHOW PASS

The bus driver gives you a nod, and you walk toward the first empty seat. The bus begins rolling forward. A beat-up looking man across from you inexplicably begins swearing at his book bag loudly in French.

> IGNORE MAN

You ignore the man, and he stands up and exits the bus at the next stop. The bus begins moving again, heading West down Kingsway toward downtown Vancouver.

> WAIT

The bus continues down Kingsway. The bus driver shouts, "Broadway stop!"

> PULL CORD

You pull the Stop Bus cord. A light near the front of the bus now says "Next Stop." The bus grinds to a rough halt at the corner of Kingsway and Broadway.

> EXIT BUS

The door is closed.

> STEP DOWN

You place your right foot on the steps near the exit door, and the door opens, as if by magic.

> EXIT BUS

You step off the bus. All around you can see Chinese restaurants, a coin laundry, and some small shops. Kingsway continues to the NW and SE. Broadway continues to the E and W. You can see a large number of neon signs and the signpost for Main St about a block to the west.

> W

You walk a little while and now find yourself at the corner of Broadway and Main. An endless array of shops and restaurants stretches to the N and S.

> S

You walk South. You are on Main St, at 10th Ave.

> LOOK MAP

You pull the Vancouver transit map out of your bag. There is a small mark on the map at Main St and King Edward Ave.

> S

You walk South. You now stand at Main and 11th Ave. You see a key cutter shop, reminding you that your landlord told you to make a copy of your key.

> GO KEY SHOP

The key shop is closed.

> WALK 8 BLOCKS SOUTH

You now stand at the corner of Main and King Edward. A small restaurant advertising all-day breakfast is on the Southeast corner, along with the Grind and Gallery Coffee Shop.

> LOOK TIME

It is now 6:20 p.m.

> GO RESTAURANT

You enter the little restaurant. A little Asian woman enthusiastically encourages you to sit down in any of the booths along the window. "It rain out there eh? What you want to drink?"

> ORDER FOOD

You ask for an orange juice and a feta cheese omelette. The woman smiles and hands you a newspaper to read while you wait. After a few minutes she returns with a steaming plate of food and a tall glass of juice.

> EAT FOOD

You voraciously gobble down the warm meal.

> LOOK TIME

It is now 6:55 p.m.

> PAY WAITRESS

You leave some money on the table. The waitress thanks you.

> EXIT RESTAURANT

You walk back out onto the sidewalk. You are standing at the corner of Main and King Edward.

> GO CAFE

You walk into the coffee shop.

> LOOK PEOPLE

? I don't understand.

> LOOK GROUP

The meetup group is not here.

> ORDER COFFEE

You approach the counter and ask for a medium cafe latte. The barista takes your $5 and gives you $1.55 in change. Soon afterward a steaming mug of coffee sits on the counter.

> TAKE COFFEE

You pick up the cafe latte.

> SIT DOWN

You find a seat in a bar area. There is a newspaper here.

> DRINK COFFEE

The latte warms you as it fills your stomach.

> LOOK TIME

It is now 7:05 p.m.

> READ PAPER

You absentmindedly flip through the West-Ender, realizing it is the same issue you read a few days before.

> LOOK TIME

It is now 7:15 p.m.

> LOOK GROUP

The meetup group is not here.

> LOOK AROUND

The cafe is fairly busy, with most tables being occupied by solitary UBC students reading textbooks and listening to headphones. You see several people entering and emerging from what appears to be a back room.

> GO ROOM

You gather up your bag and your coffee and walk into the back room. Here there are many more tables of students and other people. An internet kiosk s to your left.

> GO KIOSK

The internet kiosk stares blankly back at you.

> LOOK KIOSK

A sign on the kiosk reads "20 minutes for $2. Loonies only."

> INSERT COINS

You put two bronze coins into the kiosk's slot, and it jumps to life.

> READ WEBSITE

You browse to the Meetup website. It says "Next Meetup, Wednesday December 8th at 7pm, at Grind and Gallery Coffee Shop."

> CURSE

You mutter several choice words under your breath.

> EXIT CAFE

You walk back onto the sidewalk. You are on the corner of Main and King Edward.

> GO BUS STOP

You walk to the nearest bus stop. You are soon joined by an elderly couple speaking to each other in Cantonese. The woman takes the man's umbrella and shakes it out for him.

> LOOK BUS

The bus is not here.

> WAIT BUS

You wait for about twenty minutes. The couple near you says something to each other about once every 4 minutes. Finally you see a #3 Downtown bus comes near.

> GO BUS

You step into the bus.

> SHOW PASS

The bus driver waves you along hurriedly. You take a seat near the back of the bus. A man who appears to be a heroin junkie sits in the seat in front of you. He is twitching and glancing around nervously.

> IGNORE MAN

You ignore the heroin junkie, and instead focus your attention on an attractive girl sitting across the aisle from you.

> SMILE GIRL

The girl smiles back.

> SMILE GIRL

Already bored of your little game, the girl gives a cursory smile and then turns the other direction. The bus pulls up to a stop in Chinatown.

> WAIT

Several people get on and off the bus. You continue to wait. After a few more blocks the bus now pulls to a stop on East Hastings.

> WAIT

You remain seated. Both the attractive girl and the heroin junkie exit the bus. The bus turns a corner on Richards St and is now approaching Richards and Robson.

> PULL CORD

You pull the cord, and the "Next Stop" light appears. The bus pulls to a stop.

> STEP DOWN

The doors open as you place your foot on the steps. You exit the bus. You are standing at the corner of Richards and Robson. The shops on Robson extend to the E and W. Richards street continues darkly to the N and S.

> W

You walk a block West on Robson. You are now standing at Robson and Seymour. Future Shop shines brightly to the West, reminding you that you wanted to look at their DVD selection, and possibly buy a power cable.

> S

Ignoring the temptation you walk a block south on Seymour. You are now standing at Seymour and Smithe. There is a Staples Office Supply here, and your apartment building is just behind it. Your grocery store is further down the street.

> GO STAPLES

You walk into the internationally known office supply chain, and are blinded by a flood of fluorescent lights.

> BUY POWER CABLE

You walk through the aisles, and find the power cable you needed.

> PAY CASHIER

You hand a credit card to the cashier and sign the slip. You now have POWER CABLE!

> EXIT STORE

You are standing at the corner of Seymour and Smithe.

> GO GROCERY

You walk down Seymour a little bit and enter the automatic doors of Nelson's Market. The coffee bar is directly in front of you. A busy line of checkout counters and the flower stand are to your left. The DVD machine is to your right.

> GO DVD MACHINE

You approach the DVD machine.

> GIVE DVD

You take the DVD movie from the night before and place it in the slot on the machine. The machine hungrily eats it. A Ukrainian man standing nearby looks on in wonder.

> TALK MAN

"Hi," you say. "The machine, it lets you rent the movies?" the man asks. "Sure, you just pick what you want, and bring it back the next day," you answer. "Oh, how wonderful," the man responds, and begins to tinker with the machine. You are standing in Nester's Market.

> EXIT STORE

You are standing on the sidewalk on Seymour, between Smithe and Robson. Your apartment building is across the street. Some people are sitting at a table on the sidewalk in the rain.

> GO APARTMENT

You walk up to your apartment building.

> USE KEYCARD

You place your keycard on the panel by the door, and you hear the door unlock with a thump.

> OPEN DOOR

You walk inside the building. The elevators are directly ahead of you. A bulletin board is to your right. An area full of postal boxes is to your left.

> OPEN MAILBOX

You insert your key in your mailbox and find two envelopes addressed to you inside.

> TAKE LETTERS

You reach inside the mailbox. You now have the PAYCHEQUE and the BANK STATEMENT!

> GO ELEVATOR

Nothing happens.

> PUSH BUTTON

You push the button near the elevator, and for the first time you can remember the elevator door opens right away. You step inside and ride the elevator to your floor.

> GO HOME

Excitedly you put your key into the lock of your door, turn it, open the door, and walk inside.
