Mystery of the Muslim
"We've been in Sudan for days, and we haven't seen a single radical militant fundamentalist Muslim extremist!"
This, a choice line from the Omnimax documentary presentation Mystery of the Nile, is one of the reasons I'm sometimes embarrassed to admit to people that I'm American. You'd think a bunch of archaeologists and world explorers would be just a little more culturally aware.
"These people, even though they were Muslims, were awfully friendly!"
One of the expedition members, a geologist from Cairo, served as the comic relief for the film, and I can't help think, especially given the comments of the others, that his religion had something to do with it.
This can only end in tears. . . .
