Barrio Dark Side
"What do people do at a Quincañera?"
"It's sort of like the Mexican version of a debutante ball, I believe, with only one girl being presented. A huge party with all the friends and relatives there, decorations, tons of food, music and dancing — that kind of thing."
"Have you ever been to one?"
"No, I guess I was never quite considered close enough to family for anyone. My dad might have been invited to one — I don't know."
"That might be tough anyway, if everyone is speaking Spanish."
"My dad's Spanish used to be really good."
"But not anymore?"
"Well, it was good Spanish, but then he didn't speak it enough so it . . . well . . . it sort of went bad."
"Bad Spanish."
"His Spanish turned to the dark side."
"The dark side — how would Star Wars be in Spanish?"
"Lucas. Soy su padre."
"¡Nooooooooooooooooo!"
"¡Dios mio!"
