On the Road Again
Wednesday morning, 7am, and the time has come to hit the road, back through western Romania, a night in Budapest, a couple of nights in Vienna, and eventually home to Vancouver.
A chorus of "Drum bun!" (Good trip!) hailed us last night as we made our last round of home visits. And then...
Them: Drum bun! Cum se spune în Inglese?
We: Have a nice trip.
Them: [heavily accented English] Have a nice trip! Cum se spune în Texan?
We: Texan?!? [thinking] Um, Oh! Happy trails!
Them: Happy trails! Happy trails! La mulţi ani!* La revedere! Happy trails! Have a nice trip! Pa! Bye!
We: Bye!
I now feel properly wished off.
* I told you they say "la mulţi ani" for everything. . .
